Position: Nursery & Children’s Director
Reports To: Pastor
Hours: Part-Time (Flexible, including Sundays, Wednesdays, and special events)
Location: Holly Springs Baptist Church, Pickens, SC
Position Overview: Holly Springs is seeking a passionate and dedicated Nursery & Children’s Director to oversee and coordinate the ministry for our youngest members (infants – 5th Grade). This role is vital in creating a loving, safe, and Christ-centered environment where children can experience God’s love while their parents engage in worship and church activities.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Oversight
Provide vision, leadership, and oversight for the Nursery, Preschool, and Elementary Ministries.
Recruit, train, and schedule volunteers to ensure adequate staffing for nursery, preschool, and elementary programs.
Foster a warm and welcoming environment that prioritizes the safety, care, and spiritual development of young children.
Childcare & Curriculum
Implement and oversee age-appropriate, Bible-based curriculum for nursery, preschool, and elementary children during Sunday School and service times.
Ensure that all lessons, activities, and playtime reflect the church’s mission and values.
Safety & Administrative Duties
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment for nursery, preschool, and elementary-aged children.
Ensure all childcare volunteers adhere to child protection policies and proper background checks have been completed and are up to date for all nursery and children volunteers.
Set up and maintain an accountability system for nursery drop-off and pick-up.
Coordinate with the church staff to support special events, holiday services, and outreach programs requiring childcare.
Organize, plan, and oversee yearly
Easter Egg Hunt, Trunk or Treat, and Vacation Bible School (VBS).
Plan summer activities (2-3 activities).
Parental & Volunteer Engagement
Develop relationships with parents, providing encouragement and support in their child’s spiritual journey.
Communicate updates, policies, and upcoming events with parents and volunteers.
Encourage and equip volunteers to serve with excellence through ongoing training and appreciation efforts.
Qualifications & Skills
A deep love for Christ and a heart for children’s ministry.
Experience in early childhood education, childcare, or church ministry preferred.
Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
Ability to recruit, train, and encourage volunteers.
Understanding of child development and how to create an engaging, faith-based environment.
CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
