The Gospel

When God created the world, He did so perfectly; however, the humans He made chose to rebel against Him, plunging humanity into sin. We are all born “in Adam” meaning that we are born with a sin nature (Romans 5:12). We all sin and fall short of God’s glory (Romans 3:23). As penalty for our sin, when we die we will live in Hell eternally separated from God (Romans 6:23). The "gospel" means the good news! The good news is that God loved the world enough to send His Son Jesus Christ to earth to live a perfect life and die as an innocent sacrifice for our sin (John 3:16). God raised Jesus back to life after three days, conquering sin and death (1 Corinthians 15:1-4). We are saved from our sin by believing and relying on what Jesus has done for us (Romans 10:9-10, 13). We are redeemed and justified by the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross, not by any works or behaviors of our own (Galatians 2:16, Romans 5:9).
